Danny Hull Newsletter: Musically This Week Vol XIII, No 27

Hullo friends.  Late Monday night...  Did you know that even after a shower drywall dust doesn't wash off?  You don't want to know what I did today.  Needless to say, tomorrow night will be a lot more fun...

Tuesday, 3/22 at Bobby McGee's     7:00 - 10:00
The Kipler Brothers
Mickey Kipler, tenor saxophone     Jimmy Kipler, guitar     Paul Zap, bass     your host, drum set

I don't have any photos of the Kipler Brothers.  But if you've seen one you've seen them both.  In fact, even Paul Zap kind of looks like Mickey & Jimmy.  OK, no he doesn't.  I'm just tired.  (There's a proven study about how drywall dust can affect one's thinking.)  But I digress...  You likely don't need a photo of the Kips anyway.  If you've heard any music in Buffalo since the 50's, you know they are Buffalo legends.  In fact, here's a true story:  Stanley Turrentine is Mickey's saxophone hero.  Back in the 70's, Stanley was appearing at the Revilot.  Mickey was there and was invited to sit-in.  So Stanley retired to the bar and Mickey did his thing, whereupon after the set Stanley's drummer said to Mickey "You sound more like Stanley than Stanley!"  And Jimmy?  He doesn't sound like Stanley, but he is a brilliant guitarist.  (Which you knew anyway...)  So here's you're chance to catch up with the Kips, hear their growth, and have some laughs with the most beloved twins in Buffalo's storied musical history.  Still at Bobby McGee's - in the Maple Ridge Plaza, Sweet Home & Maple Roads.  Jyl, Jennifer, steady Billy & quiet Mike - good music, good food, good people, chilled spirits, and a great hang.

Friday, 3/25 at Wegman's Sheridan     6:00 - 8:00
Dave Scott, guitar     Buddy Fadale, bass     yours truly, drum set
Have you ever indulged yourself at the Wegman's olive bar?  Expensive at $7.49 a pound, but you could make a meal out of 'em...  And while you're there Friday, we will be too.  And just as tasty...

next Tuesday, 3/29 at Bobby McGee's     7:00 - 10:00
Randy Stirtzinger, vibraphone     Warren Stirtzinger, guitar     John Werick, bass     your correspondent, drum set
